these are some of the videos I think typify YouTube as the clearest mirror for our collective selves. from the modern day library of alexandria for anyone and everyone, listed below are dozens of the best videos I've seen. this certainly is not an exhaustive list, by any stretch -- everyone will have a different list of what makes YouTube, YouTube.
I didn't even like it that much when it launched, and can't say I particularly like it now! such a pain in the ass to search, and what's the point of just endlessly surfing videos? this page is as much an archiving project as it is a look through the prism.
some of these, I will have something (maybe a lot of something) to say. many others will be simply listed apropos of context. as this list evolves, some may be delisted, or even reordered -- despite the title. with popular videos, I'm posting the earliest versions I can find, preferably the originals.
I'm also mirroring the smaller videos -- livestreams and longer-form content (such as Tim Rogers' ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS DOOM) would probably be prohibitive to rehost, so they'll just point back to YouTube until such time comes that I notice they've vanished, assuming they all eventually will.
